I use a few, but if I were to recommend only one, it would be the Berean Study Bible, but then if it's OT study it's good to look at the Tanakh or the Aramaic and Palestinian Targums (mine is Zen Garcia's edition). I do read the KJV but have the usual concerns regarding the translation's motives, some of which I discussed in TADETA. And the Septuagint must be also read. Really it all depends on how much time one has and how deep the Holy Spirit's leading.
I don't use E-Sword but only because I try to minimize screen time. It would be wonderful to not have to deal with magnetic transference, biometric data harvesting and DNA alteration being caused to all technology users due to having been saturated with nanotechnology, the biodigital convergence I wrote a recent 4-part series on which no one seems to heed the warning of.
I found a really neat old book called LETTERS TO YOUNG CHURCHES, which is a translation of Paul's epistles and that's just fantastic too. It's out of print but can be located used, has a forward by C.S. Lewis which itself is a treasure.
And the Nave's Topical Bible is really misnamed, for it's an encylopedia really, but! It doesn't have references for the Rapture, so that's indicative of Religion, Inc's pernicious controls.

Even if the Apocryphal texts aren't God-breathed, they still offer additional supporting perspectives, historically and critically. I LOVE the Infancy Gospels of Christ, and suggest them. I think searching the tag cloud on my ETA website or keyword apocrypha should yield some good reads.
